Physical Therapy for Work Related Injuries

Did You Know: Unfortunately, getting injured at work just as common as it is preventable. According to the National Safety Council (NSC), a worker in the United States is injured every seven seconds. The top five most commonly injured workers are in service, shipping, manufacturing, maintenance and repair, or construction.

Those individuals who help define Pittsburgh’s culture are also some of the most at-risk for injuries at work. At David Physical Therapy, we have 25 years of experience treating work-related injuries and getting our city’s workers back on their feet. Our team of licensed physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and certified athletic trainers will work with you to develop an individualized recovery plan.

FAQs on Workplace Injury:

What Are Some Common Work Related Injuries?

An accident at work doesn’t always necessarily result in a full-blown injury, but here are some of the most common incidents we see resulting in damage that requires physical therapy to heal:

  • Slips and falls. A slip on a slick surface or fall from a high place like a ladder or scaffold can easily become a neck, limb, or back injury at work.
  • One-time muscle strain. Improper technique can result in painful back and neck strains during heavy lifting in the workplace.
  • Repetitive strain. These types of strains in the joints are commonplace in jobs that require repetitive motion.
  • Collisions with objects. An accident involving a large object such as a forklift or falling hardware can cause serious bodily harm, resulting in a wide range of injuries that require therapy to heal.

How Long Will I Need to Recover?

We understand that patients with workplace injuries want to get back to their normal work routine as quickly as possible. At David Physical Therapy, we feel strongly that every injury is unique and should be assessed on a case-by-case basis; with this philosophy in mind, we will work with you to develop a recovery plan that suits your needs as effectively as we can.

How Will Physical Therapy Help Me?

We help our patients achieve the highest level of functional independence by improving strength, mobility, balance, and coordination. Your therapy will focus on reducing pain, reducing disability, and ultimately restoring function to whichever area has been damaged by your workplace incident. Our ultimate goal is to restore every capability and confidence to our patients when they get back on the job.
